Configuring your Cisco Jabber settings quickly relies on whether you are an end user adjusting your local application or an administrator deploying global settings. For most end users, the fastest method to optimize Jabber is using the in-app Settings menu. For IT administrators, the quickest route is using UC Service Profiles in Cisco Unified Communications Manager (CUCM) version 12.5 or later, which bypasses tedious XML programming. Below is a scannable quick-start manual for both roles. For End Users: Fast Desktop Customization

If you just installed the application, you can access your preferences by clicking your Profile Icon or the Gear Icon in the top-left corner and selecting Settings.

Audio & Headsets: Select Audio from the left panel. Use the drop-down menus to assign your preferred speaker and microphone.

Prioritize Devices: Click Advanced within the audio settings to shift your main headset to the top position using the up/down arrows. This permanently defaults to your headset when multiple accessories are plugged in.

Boot on Startup: Go to General and check Start Cisco Jabber when my computer starts to prevent manually opening the app every morning.

Quick Call Forwarding: Do not dig into settings for this. Look at the bottom-left corner of the main hub window, click the Call Settings dropdown, and choose Forward Calls to redirect ringtones to a personal cell phone or teammate. For Admins: Rapid Deployment via CUCM GUI

If you are managing a cluster of users, do not manually edit raw jabber-config.xml files. Use the Cisco Unified CM Administration web page to provision settings instantly:
